Turning Overthinking into Action

Overthinking

Certain tasks give me a mental block; instead of doing them, I just end up thinking about them… ironically using far more energy than if I just got started. The kicker is, I know deep down I really do want these things; otherwise, I wouldn’t keep thinking about them. Procrastination can eat away at you, and in my experience, the only way to beat it is by taking action, even if you don’t have everything perfectly figured out. Often, the “figuring out” part happens once you begin. I think we benefit more from giving ourselves permission to decide on a direction and being okay with a few course corrections along the way!

Fitness goals are a classic example of this. So many people get stuck behind the idea that they need to be “fit enough” before joining a gym, which is like saying your car needs to run perfectly before taking it to the mechanic. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but that’s not how it works!

When I’m facing something exciting but daunting—when I feel miles away from my goal—I visualize the outcome, how great it’ll feel, and what it’ll let me do. After that, it’s just one foot in front of the other.

On another note, the BIM coaching team and Mench (our executive assistant extraordinaire) have been busy creating social media content. Few weeks ago, Michael posted about hip shift, which you can check out [HERE]. If you have any questions or want us to cover a specific topic, hit us up on IG!

Wishing you a super-actionable week! 😎
